We are at war. Regardless of which side you are on, you have been wounded by racism. The lines have been drawn. Race has and is front and center in the world. Watch the media headlines from the first Black president in the United States to wealth discrepancies to the social determinants of health to violence against Black people—we cannot escape the issue of race. Despite the ugly history of racism and increased overt and covert demonstrations of racism, this is a war we can win.

This course offers an overview of the history of racism in America and current expressions—experiences of racism, working definitions, an examination of explicit and hidden racism, and how one organizes to combat racism. The course focuses on racism as a system and social construct to provide advantages to one group and marginalize another group. We will move our bodies and talk about the body in small groups. We will engage in difficult but necessary conversations about race and racism. We will listen to each other and the spirit. By the end of the day, you will have a definition, some history, soul work, encouragement, and a game plan to win the war in your context.
