Everyone will at some point, experience loss or unanticipated change. Neuroscience tells us we are wired to grow through challenge and change, including our most extreme hardships. When faced with difficulties, what one characteristic distinguishes those who become embittered and resentful from those who deepen into greater wisdom and strength? It is the intention to allow our difficulties to strip away our pretense and open our hearts, so we can connect to others and to the soul of life with unprecedented tenderness and candor. Whether change has arrived as a job loss, a relationship ending, or even a death, an illness, or a natural disaster, or you are heeding a call from deep within to create a change, this course will provide a safe container, so your toughest times can become a gateway to an infinitely richer, more meaningful life.
Across four evenings we will explore:
- What resilience is, and how we distinguish between surviving and thriving
- The value of pain and what happens when we do not grieve
- The five levels of resilience (based on the work of Dr. Al Siebert, the late best- selling author and founder of The Resiliency Center)
- The role of faith, curiosity, self-love, embodiment, and optimistic expectations
Each week, you will be offered practices that will help you develop ways to implement resilience in your own life.
