I don’t know about you, but one of the things I miss most during this pandemic is the possibility to simply pick up the mic and share what is in our hearts and to listen and be present to each other in Love. For me that is one of the essences of our One Spirit community. The ‘I see you – phenomenon’. This Gathering will offer us that kind of larger group sharing and sacred space.
Poetry, that is our own ‘spontaneous’ poetry, will help our Souls to speak and share… from our hearts in a large group gathering. We’ll move through a simple process of writing a pantoum poem, experience a guided meditation, and then allow our souls to speak within our larger community group.
I hope you will join us!
Rev. Joan Elkerbout
Rev. Joan is an OSIS graduate from the class of 2009. Joan is Dutch, living an hour and a half south-east of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and still deeply connected with the One Spirit community. She visits One Spirit and her OSIS friends every year – if she can. Always waiting for the next Easter Retreat with Rev. Diane and Andrew Harvey (she didn’t miss a single one). She is a social worker, therapist and experiential expert with a private practice specialized in guiding victims of bullying through their healing process and clients who experience(d) emotional abuse and/or narcissism in relationships with significant other people. When called she also serves specifically as an Interfaith Minister. After her graduation she started the Dutch Interspiritual Seminary. Rev. Diane Berke, Rev. David Wallace and Rev. Chani Getter visited her school in the Netherlands and taught her students. Because of serious illness she had to stop walking this path, but now that her health is back, she has resumed again that which her heart wishes for. Soon after this pandemic - she hopes. Recently the pandemic made her postpone the international interspiritual retreat she was preparing - with Rev. Diane and Rev. David leading it - in the old monastery where she lives, bringing us all together. Now it is a promise for better times. Joan was raised as a preacher kid in a modern Dutch protestant tradition, but fell in love with all wisdom traditions combined with her love for ongoing inner work. She also is a volunteer foster parent for abandoned (too) young kittens, together with her own 4 cats Mazzel, Diwali, Nouki and Joani.
